Chimes Apr 05, 2009
By Ms. Maria A. Galdos
"MAG"
This chime is great to enjoy indoors. It has a great sound and also turns off automatically after awhile (I can't remember how long .. I think it is 20 mins or so) and the good thing about that feature is that the motor won't burn out that way. I bought another set of indoor chimes and I forgot to turn them off and within a short period of time (less than 6 months) the motor burned out. Overall, this is great product. If you are looking for indoor chimes, this is it!

Great Item Oct 04, 2010

This item is just what I was looking for. I facilitate energy healing through my practice, and the sounds of these windchimes help put my clients into a relaxed state and ready to allow the energy in and to do it's work. The programable timing of the chimes makes it feel almost etherical when they do chime. The fan is whisper quiet, and the whole piece feels high quality.

4 plus and then some Aug 21, 2010
By sparrow I'm a fan of wind chimes to the extent that I feel a little deprived when the winds won't play my outdoor chimes, so I've been looking for an indoor, mechanized solution for some time. At last! While this set of chimes cannot replace the melodies of those in a garden on a breezy day, they do fill the gap quite nicely, and probably as well as any ever devised. On my own rating scale:
1) As indoor chimes, they should be light enough not to overpower a conversation or so much as a mood, even at close range. Score 5. They are as delicate as a butterfly, and manage to fade into the background while at the same time enhancing it.
2) They must not sound contrived. Score 3. They are as random as a light breeze. On the downside, there is the occasional, slight whir of the fan that makes them play, which even though as quiet as possible, would have had me sending them back if I hadn't found a solution. For me, this was placing them on the floor against a wall behind a chair, which brought the score back to a 5. I have to stand right next to them now and think about it to notice the whir. A few feet away and it's completely unnoticeable. Don't know how this would work out for others, otherwise I'd have given this a 5 right off.
3) Simplicity of design and operation is essential. Score 5. Take them out of box, turn them on, and they do all the rest. A little light dusting every now and then will be your only responsibility.
4) Esthetics matters. While no work of art, they would be pleasing to the eye in any decor. Score 4, given that at this price, they have to be mass produced. You might have to be a little creative if, like me, you cringe at the sight of any electrical cords showing. I like that they can also be operated by batteries in case hiding the cord isn't the best option, although since I was able to tuck the cord away, I haven't tried them on batteries yet, and have no idea how well or how long they might work on batteries alone.
5) Sound quality. Score 4. Maybe a tad bit tinny, yet quite pleasing, and as good as any outdoor chimes I know of that come in such a small size.
Since I'm on the fence about the 1 hour automatic shut-off feature, I'm not ready to give this a rating yet. On the one hand, I would have liked to be the one to say when, and on the other, it's kind of nice.
When I add this all up, my overall score so far (and I only just got them, so this might change) is a 4.2 if I'm being super persnickety. Never was that good at math, though ;) In my heart, they're a 5 on the scale of what's currently out there if you're looking for indoor chimes, so that's how I'll rate them.
Needs a Volume Control Mar 13, 2011
By Erica I was looking for a wind chime as a gift for someone who LOVES them. I figured this would be nice for the winter months. The sound of the chimes is beautiful but they are a bit too loud. If there was a volume adjust I would give this product four stars! I say four, and not five, because I think the look is just okay. It looks a bit cheap as they constructed it from plastic but tried to make it look like wood, a little tacky. I suppose if you can place it in another room, somewhere in the distance, you may get a desirable volume. : )
