excellent craftmanship. they're pricey but quality musical instruments, a category i believe applicable here, don't come cheap.
pros - the sustain is impressive.
con - a thin rubber coating on the wood clapper would eliminate the subtle clanging effect on the higher notes.
Well constructed, Sound is amazing... Jan 19, 2011
By KB The sound of these chimes is just incredible. The slightest breeze will bring out a gentle ringing - not too loud - and they just keep on ringing. Even through some of the "gusty" storms, the chimes are heavy enough and well-spaced so that they don't sound jumbled or frantic; the volume is definitely turned up on a windy day, but not to the point that they are uncomfortably noisy to us or the neighbors. However, depending on the wind conditions where you live, you can remove the wind-catcher (diamond-shaped on the bottom) which will quiet them down significantly, or you can order a different size wind-catcher to meet your needs.
Construction is great - nylon cord binds everything together, and it is heavy-duty. The windcatcher and clapper (?) seem very durable (they aren't wood, so they wont dry out/rot/warp). The Nylon is tied to a metal post INSIDE the chimes instead of threaded THROUGH the chimes, which is good - I've had previous chimes from other manufacturers where the cord is threaded through the chimes horizontally, and they require re-threading every few years due to the chimes' movement cutting the cord. This should not be an issue with these chimes.
These chimes are LARGE and HEAVY. Be sure you have a good spot to anchor them securely, and I have no doubt you'll enjoy them as much as we have!
Worth The Price! Oct 06, 2009

This is the 2nd one of these we've purchased. We saw them many years ago and dreamed of having one, so we saved and purchased it for our wedding anniversary one year. It was so awesome seeing it hang off of a tree in the front yard and the neighbors really enjoyed it as much as we did.
When somebody offered to award us for our business sales, this is what we chose. We ordered another one for the backyard. I hear it as I work in the kitchen and when we go to sleep at night. It's like being surrounded with music. The tones are so clear and precise. We just love them both!
You won't be disappointed. We've had the first one hanging outside for many years -- it even took a fall of 15 feet from a tree when the bracket came out (tree was dying when we mounted it and gave way after a couple of years). There was no damage to any of it, which impressed us even more.
